There are so many great golf tournaments all year round, but, which are the best? Take a look down below, for five golf events you must attend before you die:

The Masters
This is the first major of the year and one that gets the golf juices flowing. Everyone loves The Masters, and there are many reasons for this. The first being that it takes place in the same venue every year. Augusta National Golf Club has hosted this event for years, it’s made the tournament special. People look forward to The Masters because they know the course and are eager to see how players will do on the tricky holes. Plus, as I said, it’s the first major of the year! This gets everyone excited because it’s the first chance to see all of the games stars in the same tournament. All of the biggest names will fancy themselves for the trophy, it’s their chance to make a name for themselves and be the one to beat this year.
US Open
The next event you have to attend is the second major of the year, the US Open. It’s a great tournament because there are always so many questions to ask. Can the winner of The Masters make it two majors in a row? Will so and so be able to continue their form? Everyone is keen to see if the first major winner didn’t fluke it. Last year, Jordan Spieth proved it was no fluke and really made a name for himself. Again, this is a tournament where the very best will battle it out. You can expect to see top notch golfing skills over the entirety of the event.

Open Championship
We cross the pond into the United Kingdom for the third major in the golfing calendar. For European golf fans, this is often their favourite event of the year. It’s a great chance to see golf in a different setting to usual. We’ve been used to seeing the best in the world play on multiple American courses, but how do they fair overseas? This year, the Open Championship is being held in Scotland yet again. So, you can expect tricky conditions. That’s what makes this such a must-see event, the weather is usually windy and rain is often in attendance. It’s great fun watching the stars try and get to grips with the horrible conditions. Often, this is the tournament where we see a shock or two. Some of the big names may struggle and end up falling down the leaderboard. A lot of the big golf tournaments are in the USA, so it’s good to have a change of scenery for this one.
PGA Championships
The PGA Championships is the fourth major of the year and one of the most prestigious tournaments out there. It makes it onto my list because I think everyone should attend each major before they die. It’s a great chance to see some of the best players in the world go head to head in nail biting action. If you aren’t a golf love, you will be after attending this tournament. It’s held right in the middle of summer, so you’re almost always guaranteed to have great weather. And, the fact it’s the last major adds some extra spice to it. Will someone be bidding for the grand slam and get all four majors in a year? There’s so much history about this tournament; it’s a magical event. I don’t have time to dip into the backstory, so if you want to learn about it, follow the link to read more. Regarding the standard of golf, it’s usually at a very high standard. You’d expect nothing less from the best in the business.

Ryder Cup
The Ryder Cup is a tournament that doesn’t occur every year. It’s a special event because it’s team based, involving the USA vs Europe. However, as luck would have it, 2016 happens to be a Ryder Cup year. It’s the turn of Europe to host the event, and they’ve picked a golf course in Scotland, this time, round. Seriously, if you want to see golf, you have to go this tournament. Tickets will be hard to come by, but they’re worth every penny. Because it’s team based, you get an atmosphere like no other. The crowds are rooting for their teams; it’s unbelievable. Add to that the drama and quality on display, it’s the perfect event.
If you want to start watching live gold, I recommend trying to go to any of these events. If possible, try and get to each one, at least once, before you die.
