The Storey Creek Golf Club was voted as the third best public course in British Columbia by the Vancouver Sun. It has been rated 4.5 stars by Golf Digest. It is one of the most naturally beautiful courses you will ever see on Vancouver Island.
There are always eagles soaring past, or wild deer wandering in the middle of the golf course. Occasionally, a black bear makes their way through the course as well. The Storey Creek Golf Club is located in a very quiet and peaceful environment, as far from the traffic and the hustle and bustle of the city as you might imagine.

The Storey Creek Golf Club is located in the midsection of the eastern shore of the Vancouver Island, just south of the Campbell River. It is one of the purest golf courses on the Vancouver Island and has been designed by one of Canada’s top golf architects, Les Furber.
If you happen to take an aerial shot of the Storey Creek Golf Course, or flew over it, you wouldn’t fail to notice the thick growth of trees and forests around the golf course. It is as though the golf course has been carved out of a lush green forest.
While there are a few buildings around the 18-hole golf course, it is as natural as a golf course can get, with 18 strips of fairways, 18 greens, and a number of bunkers. Of course, visitors are normally stunned by the sights of wildlife such as deer, eagles and woodpeckers as well as the beautiful ponds and streams.
The Storey Creek Golf Course may well be the best flat course on Vancouver Island. You will appreciate the ground relief in the form of mounding that allows you to vary your shots. The golf course is 6,700 yards between the tips and has plenty of variety when it comes to the length. The 568-yard 12th, for example, is perhaps the most difficult par 5 anywhere in British Columbia, never mind on the Vancouver Island.

Storey Creek is a shot-makers’ golf course. A little local knowledge of the course would certainly help, especially with respect to the large putting surfaces – the 2nd green is about 3 to 4 clubs deep – and dealing with water hazards.   Generally, Storey Creek plays well and is very liked by all golfers. It penalizes you in a manner that is proportionate to the miss, no more and no less. But, be mindful about hitting off the corridors, this often results in the balls getting lost, as the forest surrounding the course is really very thick.

Even if you were able to get your ball, you would find it hard to play it. So your game plan should be “fairways first”. The Storey Creek golf course certainly doesn’t make it any easier for you. But then, that’s what one would expect from a championship layout, wouldn’t you?
What’s impressive about Storey Creek is the strong finish that it offers. It is a complete golf course, one that never overwhelms you, and is not contrived or artificial in any way.
The facilities at Storey Creek are exceptional too, and the staff are very polite and helpful. The atmosphere here is very friendly and encouraging. This makes it so popular with golfers of all abilities, including women golfers.
Storey Creek is just a simple and straightforward walk with natural lines and is located in one of the most beautiful parts of Canada. It is a great feeling to be playing golf here, for pros as well as for amateurs.
