Hitting a bucket of balls at a driving range is OK for exercise. You will be swinging your arms, turning your body and using muscles in a little different way than usual. However, if you are intending to do so to learn how to play golf, I suggest you find a golf instructor in your are to learn how to set up, grip the club, swing the club, hold your head, etc. Otherwise, you may be "practicing" all the wrong things at the range, and creating bad habits that are hard to break later.
Check with the public courses in your neighborhood. They may have some "freebie" introductory programs they conduct for new players.
Good Luck...and hit 'em long, straight and often!
