Tiger Woods is the No. 1 player in the world these days, but that wasn’t always the case. When Woods was really slumping we had a host of other names take the top spot in the rankings, with Rory McIlroy becoming the top golfer in the world after his Honda Classic win back in 2012.
Peyton Manning sat down with The Golf Channel and mentioned a chat he had with Woods about that world ranking number, and how he used Tiger’s name when he was behind center and wanting the play to go on a single snap count. He said he would use Phil Mickelson’s name if he wanted it to go on two, and mentioned that Woods loved knowing that and hearing it when Peyton would play.
Manning then mentioned that when McIlroy took over as the No .1 golfer in the world, he joked with Tiger about how he has to use Rory’s name as one and Tiger’s as two these days, with Woods simply responding, “‘I’m going to get that fixed.'”
The interview is below, so check out Peyton explain his ribbing of the top golfer in the world and don’t forget, while he is one of the best quarterbacks in the world, the guy can golf his ball around even the most exclusive tracks in the world.
