Q&A: How does tossing golf balls or golf tees determine who tees off first?

QUESTION: Working at a golf course I watch players toss golf balls across the tee box or toss up ball tee's to detemine who get's the tee box. Just curious the method behind this. ANSWER:

I've never seen the ball method, but the tee method that my friends and I use is to toss the tee in the air. Whoever the tee points at has the honor of teeing off first. Keep tossing the tee until all positions are assigned.
