Is it possible that golf balls can fly half a mile?

QUESTION: The house I am living in is about half a mile from a golf course and we keep finding golf balls in the yard. So the obvious thing to think is that they are coming from the golf course, but that seems almost impossible that the golf balls could travel that far to me. Is it possible? ANSWER:
