How do i start out golfing?

QUESTION: i played golf with my friends and i really liked it. i had to rent clubs tho so i want to buy some left hand ones. also the golf team try outs are 2moro so and tips would be good. ANSWER:

Learn the game from the green out. Putting and Chipping are the most important. I play with an older guy and he can't hit the ball far at all but he always puts up a decent score because he is very good with his 7I-SW and putter. Hitting drives at the range all day long will not help your scoring average if you are not good around the green.
