This isn’t so much a golf story as it is one about dentistry, and maybe parenting.
You see, 7-year-old Noah Smith had a loose tooth that he wanted to pull out — presumably to collect on it from the Tooth Fairy. But Noah wasn’t sure how to extricate it. So his dad, Phil, had an idea. That’s where the video picks up the story.
Phil, Noah and Phil’s other kid went outside their house. They tied one end of a string to Noah’s loose tooth. On the other, they tied a Nike golf ball and put it on a tee. Then, after a brief explanation, Phil took a swing at the ball and the force of the impact send the ball and tooth flying.
Noah picked up his tooth from the ground. No one got hurt. I’m not sure if that makes Phil Smith the Dad of the Year that just ended or not. The only thing I know for sure is, after a year featuring trendy trick-shot videos, let’s all hope this doesn’t become en vogue.
