Tiger Woods' arraignment date moved to August

Tiger Woods will be arraigned on charges of suspicion of driving under the influence and illegal parking on Aug. 9, more than a month after the original hearing date of July 5.

Judge Sandra Bosso-Pardo didn’t given a reason in court filings for the change in date.

On Memorial Day, Woods was found asleep behind the wheel of his parked Mercedes-Benz by Jupiter (Fla.) police officers. After taking Woods through a series of field sobriety tests, which Woods failed, he was charged with driving under the influence.

A breathalyzer test showed that Woods had not been drinking alcohol. Woods did indicate to interrogating officers at the scene of the stop that he had been taking a number of prescription medications, including Vicodin, a strong pain medication, and Xanax, an anxiety medication.

“What happened was an unexpected reaction to prescribed medications. I didn’t realize the mix of medications had affected me so strongly,” Woods said in a public statement.

Woods is unlikely to appear at the hearing, with his legal representation filing for a waiver of the normal requirement for the defendant to appear.
