Some years ago, people started mixing the always delicious Arnold Palmer (lemonade and iced tea, check the great "30 for 30" short on the making of the drink) with vodka. The drink didn't have a name, so people turned to the one man in the game of golf that made the most sense for this delicious, yet dangerous, concoction.
The problem was, John Daly wasn't a big fan of people using his name with the drink and not getting paid for it, heading to Twitter to ask people to send him names of bars that had Daly's name on their drink menu. Now he's all in, coming up with the John Daly Cocktail that will be sold in Arizona, New Mexico and California BevMos.
You can say a lot of things about Daly, but the guy has definitely taken advantage of some marketing opportunity over the years. His Loudmouth outfits are a big hit with fans at golf tournaments, and he will pitch gear right outside his RV at certain tour stops.
This drink will do well I'm sure because, frankly, it's delicious, and now you don't have to worry about a heavy-handed bartender screwing it up.
