Brandt Snedeker shot 75 to miss the cut on Friday at the Australian PGA Championship, a day after an opening 84 in windy conditions left him near the bottom of the leaderboard.
Unfortunately, the nine-shot improvement was nowhere near enough to get the American to the weekend at Royal Links. At 15-over 159, Snedeker missed the cut by nine shots.
“I definitely feel embarrassed about my play the last two days,” Snedeker said. “I’m going to need to come back down here and redeem myself.”
However, Snedeker was not the only player to shoot eyebrow-raising scores. On Friday, 12 more rounds in 80s were recorded, including a pair of 88s, bringing the two-day total to 44.
At the other end of the leaderboard, David Lingmerth, who won the Memorial Tournament last season on the PGA Tour, has the lead through 36 holes. After opening with 1-over 73, Lingmerth shot 68 on Friday to reach 3 under par, good enough for a one-shot lead over six players, including American Peter Uihlein.
Just 12 players are under par through two rounds.
