Shorts could becoming to European Tour practice rounds

You might be seeing some more leg on the European Tour, with players on the verge of getting the green light to wear shorts during practice rounds and pro-ams.

Euro Tour chief executive Keith Pelley set a precedent last week in the Malaysian heat last week at the EurAsia Cup when he allowed players in the Ryder Cup-styled event to wear shorts during practice rounds.

Darren Clarke, captain of the European team in the event pitting the continent against Asian players, petitioned for his players to be able to wear shorts during practice rounds in Kuala Lumpur. After an initial denial from tournament officials, Clarke turned to Pelley, who gave the go-ahead.

Now, there's a meeting on Tuesday night on the eve of the Abu Dhabi HSBC Golf Championship to discuss the issue moving forward, according to Golfweek. 

Meanwhile, Clarke and two of his team members from last week, Lee Westwood and Ian Poulter, are in on the shorts craze in the United Arab Emirates. Poulter plans to wear them in the Wednesday pro-am.

“So I’ll be baring my legs tomorrow," Poulter said. "In fact, I really don’t see a problem with wearing shorts during tournaments. I mean it is 2016.”
