Sergio Garcia made a 10 on the par-4 15th hole on Saturday at the U.S. Open

There are golf holes that just don’t fit a certain player’s eye. Each week we have pros that just can’t get past this par-3 or that par-4, making a bogey or worse on it every round and dreading it throughout their entire round before arriving on the tee.

Sergio Garcia and the 15th hole at Merion know exactly what I’m talking about. Garcia, who entered this week a marked man by some because of his comments about Tiger Woods, looked like he would be leaving quite early from the U.S. Open on Thursday after leaving the par-4 15th.

Garcia made a double-bogey on the 14th and then made a quadruple-bogey 8 on the 15th but bounced back quite nicely considering his ugly start. Sergio was able to make the cut, and his round on Saturday started off slowly with two early bogeys before arriving on this dreaded hole.

Ten shots later, Garcia was done with the 15th. Three balls out of bounds and the putt you see missed above was how Sergio ended with a double-digit score on the 15th, playing it 10-over so far through three rounds.

At least the Philadelphia fans are giving Sergio a break this week.
