On Friday at the Deutsche Bank Championship, Ryan Moore found himself in a position that a lot of players were in on the par-5 18th. Moore had just over 200 yards to the pin and was hoping to hit a good shot and set up an eagle try to post a really solid opening round in the second FedEx Cup playoff event.
His approach never left the flag, and when it landed it looked like it might disappear for the rare double eagle, but then that pesky flagstick got in the way of one of the better shots of the year.

Moore’s ball slammed into the flag but wouldn’t drop, stopping inches away for the tap-in eagle. It was an incredible shot that really got an unlucky break considering how dead on the ball hit the flag.
Still, Moore was able to post an opening 66 thanks to that shot and that eagle finish, but he struggled a bit in the second round on Saturday, posting a 73 to drop well down the leaderboard.
