Report: David Feherty, CBS Sports part ways after failed contract talks

David Feherty is done calling golf for CBS Sports after the two sides couldn’t come to terms on a new contract.

Feherty, who joined CBS in 1997 after walking away from professional golf, and CBS could not agree on his role moving forward, according to a report by Sports Business Journal.

The CBS golf season wrapped up on Sunday with its coverage of The Barclays, the first of four FedEx Cup playoff events. Feherty interviewed winner Jason Day after the final putt dropped. He typically roamed the fairways for CBS, walking with groups and providing inside-the-ropes insights. He occasionally called play-by-play from the broadcast booth.

Feherty will continue to work with Golf Channel, which airs the 57-year-old’s eponymous interview program. It would seem like a no-brainer for NBC, which is also owned by Comcast, would find a way to add Feherty to its PGA Tour team.
