The PGA Tour heads back to North America this week for the RBC Canadian Open. Glen Abbey Golf Club, a Jack Nicklaus design, hosts one of the game’s oldest championships.
With the late Monday finish to the British Open, several players could still pull out of the event. But with the current field, here’s our top five for this week:
1. Jason Day — Day’s the class player in the field and has been in the thick of it in the last two majors. He obviously doesn’t close the deal as often as we hope, but he puts himself there as often as anyone.
2. Bubba Watson — Watson comes back here after not playing in 2014. He finished T-21 in 2013 on this course, so he has some OK vibes.
3. Luke Donald — In case you haven’t noticed, Luke Donald is back. Going back to Pat Goss from Chuck Cook was the right move, and it’s starting to pay dividends. He’s been in the top 12 in his last three starts.
4. Jim Furyk — Furyk had a nice finish at the Open, but it wasn’t anything special. Won at Heritage and had a T-5 at Memorial, another Nicklaus design like Glen Abbey. Has two wins in this event, but none here.
5. Will Wilcox — We keep telling you about Will Wilcox, and we’re telling you about him again this week. Finished second at the opposite-field Barbasol and now has full status locked up for next year. Free wheelin’ from here.
