The Jupiter (Fla.) Police Department has released the dashcam footage from Tiger Woods’ traffic stop and subsequent arrest under suspicion of driving under the influence early on Monday.
The footage shows Woods failing to pass a variety of field sobriety tests, including touching his nose with extended arms, reciting the alphabet forward and backward, and walking a straight line with feet touching heel to toe.
Woods was found by an officer on the side of Military Trail South, approximately 3 miles from his restaurant, The Woods Jupiter, heading in the opposite direction. He was found asleep in his Mercedes-Benz, which had two flat tires and fresh damage. The right turn signal was still on, with Woods’ foot on the brake in the driver’s seat.
He told the officer he was coming back from playing golf in Los Angeles, asking if he was heading in the right direction toward his house. Officers said he looked groggy, and Woods admitted he was taking several painkiller medications after a fourth back surgery, including Vicodin, a powerful opioid, and Vioxx, a medication taken off the U.S. market.
Woods was co-operative and twice blew 0.000 blood-alcohol content in a breathalyzer test. He also supplied a urine sample.
The 14-time major winner was booked into public jail before 8 a.m. on Monday and released just before 11 a.m. He will be arraigned on charges of DUI and illegal parking on July 5.
