We all know how good the European Tour is at bringing us viral videos, and if there is one thing that any golfer can appreciate, it’s a successful “Happy Gilmore” drive.
Some of the biggest names in the game took part in a contest at the Scottish Open Pro-Am on Wednesday, including Phil Mickelson, Padraig Harrington and Paul Lawrie, and while some of the guys really pounded the ball with the extra step, we had some serious duds (I’m looking at you, Lefty).
The video is fun, and the guy that hit it the longest was well past 300 yards, but Paul Casey might win the award for most obsessed with the “Happy Gilmore” culture, right down to the hockey-style putting stroke.
Enjoy the video, but a fair warning to all golfers – any attempt at this golf shot could end with you visiting your local club repair company to affix your driver head back on the shaft.
(Also, make sure you stay to the end of the video to watch Mickelson’s attempt.)
