A week ago, Inbee Park took over the top spot in the Rolex Rankings from Stacy Lewis. In yet another idle swap at the top, neither played at that week’s Blue Bay LPGA.
However, on Sunday, Park proved she’s the best in the world right now, winning the Fubon LPGA Taiwan Championship by two shots over Lewis and by five over third-ranked, 17-year-old Lydia Ko.
Park, who was at 18 under par through two rounds, closed with 1-under 71 on Sunday at Miramar Golf Country Club to finish at 22 under par.
Lewis, who shot a Saturday 64 to position herself for an outside chance at the win, shot 3-under 69 in the final round. Four rounds in the 60s were not good enough to be Park, however, keeping Lewis at No. 2 in the Rolex Rankings.
The teen Kiwi Ko shot 66 on Sunday for the round of the day and third place by a shot over Azahara Munoz.
In the LPGA’s season-long Race to the CME Globe, however, Lewis remains No. 1, with Park second and Ko third. The winner of the inaugural Race wins $ 1 million, with the top three able to claim the title with a win in the season-ending CME Group Tour Championship in three weeks.
