Going back to the site of your first major championship win must be extremely emotional, but doing so with your dad alongside you must be goose bump central.
That is the case this week with Graeme McDowell, the 2010 U.S. Open champion when it was last hosted at Pebble Beach and one of the most well respected and liked players on the PGA Tour.
McDowell doesn’t normally tee it up at the Pebble Beach Pro-Am, but he decided to start his 2014 PGA Tour season in Monterey and is doing so with his dad as his amateur partner.
We caught up with McDowell on the range before the tournament and asked him about what it must be like to revisit Pebble Beach with his dad next to him, and as you can expect, he thinks the entire experience has been incredibly special.
He also admits that his game is a little rusty, and that he has spent more hours on the range this week than he normally does during a PGA Tour stop. Still, no matter how he plays this week at Pebble Beach it will be an experience the McDowell family won’t soon forget in the coming years.
