For all the compliments we toss in the direction of Brandt Snedeker, before the 2012 season he wasn't known as some closer of golf tournaments. Sure, he had two wins before last season, but Snedeker was still an unknown to some until his play during the FedEx Cup playoffs.
Now we know the guy is for real, and the swing you see above might have been his best of the week at the Pebble Beach Pro-Am. Snedeker was leading heading into the final round but there were low scores to be had on Sunday and the rest of the field wasn't going to lay down for the reigning FedEx Cup champion no matter how well he was hitting his driver and how solidly he was rolling the putts.
Snedeker stood over that 4-iron on the second hole, a relatively easy par-5 by professional standards, and stuck his approach to about four feet. That eagle got his round going, and his 7-under 65 was his lowest round of the week and good enough for a two-shot win.
Now it's safe to say that after this start to 2013 after the way he closed out '12, Snedeker is the best golfer in the world right now and as he said on Sunday evening, his next goal is a major championship. With the way he can roll the rock, is anyone counting him out at Augusta National?
