Ben Crane nearly aces the par-4 17th at the Waste Management Open

It’s pretty incredible when you think about it, but there has only been one hole-in-one on a par-4 in the history of the PGA Tour.

Where did it take place? On the 17th hole at TPC Scottsdale, a relatively short par-4 that allows players to pound driver at the green if only they can avoid the pot bunker short and the water left.

The pin on Friday was up front, a tough spot considering the water just a few yards away, but that didn’t stop Ben Crane from going with driver during his second round of the Waste Management Open.

Crane was attempting to replicate the ace made by Andrew Magee here in 2001 and while the ball didn’t drop for the double-eagle, it did stop just a few inches past the cup for the tap-in eagle and a very happy Ben Crane.
