After Masters slip, Johnson is 'good to go' at Wells Fargo Championship

Dustin Johnson is back and “good to go” for this week’s Wells Fargo Championship in Wilmington, North Carolina.

Johnson withdrew from the Masters minutes before his Thursday tee time after slipping and falling down a short flight of stairs at his rental home in Augusta, Georgia, less than 24 hours before his run at a second major. With three weeks to rest, Johnson is ready — even if a little achy — to get back inside the ropes.

“I have been sore for awhile, a lot longer than I thought I would be,” Johnson told Golf Channel at Eagle Point Golf Club. “I’m feeling good. I feel like I’m swinging well and hitting the ball pretty good.”

Johnson is going for a rare feat, trying to win in a fourth-consecutive PGA Tour start. Prior to pulling out of the Masters, Johnson had won his three prior starts at the Genesis Open, WGC-Mexico Championship and WGC-Dell Technologies Match Play.

This week marks the start of a key stretch for Johnson, preparing for next week’s Players Championship and starting the month-long lead-in to his U.S. Open title defense at Erin Hills in Wisconsin.
