Furry Creek Golf Course

Nearby Squamish and almost halfway to Whistler, Furry Creek Golf Course is built into the side of a mountain, allowing for holes with huge elevation changes. With spectacular scenery, sweeping views of the ocean, islands and mountains, this par 72 course designed by Robert Muir Graves and built in 1993 will surely satisfy your craving for a unique & challenging golf experience.

Furry Creek Golf Course First Hole

Starting the round off with the first hole (aptly named “The Drop Zone”), you will stand in awe overlooking the Pacific Ocean and Mountains while you tee off to a fairway 165 ft below. With a large pond on the left and Furry Creek on the right, be sure to hit a straight shot!

A few holes later you arrive at one of the most difficult par 5s of the course. The 459 yard hole 3 plays uphill with fairways sloped right to left. Just when you think it’s over, you need to make a lofted approach shot to reach the undulating green surrounded by bunkers and hills.

Continuing through the forested mountains you will reach another difficult par 5. The winding hole 11 will force to you take 3 shots to make it to the green. Your second shot needs to be placed at the edge of the fairway, before the expansive ravine that protects the highly elevated two tiered green. Make sure you use an extra club or two with an accurate shot to make it over the ravine and up onto the green.

Soon after, you arrive at the most recognized hole in BC – The Tee by the Sea. Dubbed “BC’s Signature Golf Hole”, Hole 14 is a 184 yard par 3 bordered by the BC coast on the left and an open fairway on the right. To make it to the green in one, club selection and a perfect shot are key. The green is well protected by water all around (except the right side) and a well placed bunker in front. The conservative strategy for this hole is to lay up on the right side and follow with a chip and a putt for par.

Thankfully golf carts are included in the green fees, because unless you are looking for an active hike during your golf game, the carts will easily overcome the long distances through the forest from the greens to the next set of tees. The added bonus of GPS built into the golf carts will provide you with precise yardage when you drive up to your ball.

Make sure you bring plenty of spare golf balls as many of the holes are narrow and fairways tend to drop off the side of the mountain, making stray shots impossible to retrieve.

After your round of golf, be sure to grab some refreshments at the Sea to Sky Grill in the award-winning 33,000 square foot clubhouse. Serving up fresh West Coast cuisine, while providing beautiful views of Howe Sound from the patio, it is the perfect finish to a day spent golfing on a coastal mountain. We highly recommend Furry Creek Golf Course for a breathtaking, challenging experience like no other.
