I'm sure that you have 6 - 8 volt batteries. If you look you should be able to get them for about 100 dollars per and install them yourself.
You will have issues trying to reinvent the wheel by changing style of batteries - mounting for instance etc etc
You might save 200 dollars but is it worth the trouble - doubtful
Look for a trojan battery dealer or a local golf cart dealership and get the right thing and your cart will run like brand new
