Fifteen feet is just fine, especially if the water is clear where you play. I got one several years ago and it has paid for itself many times over. You'll recover your $ 20 in no time by retrieving balls in hard to get to places. Mine has come in handy in Arizona where there are some brushy areas with posted signs that say, "Rattlesnake Area. Danger." I don't walk into those areas. I use my ball retriever.
