I have looked at all kinds of websites for golf courses and they all offer a membership, but what are the benefits of it?

Unless you golf at least twice a week, it’s not worth it. The only other perk is that members get preferred tee times over non members. If a member and a non member both want an 8:00 tee time on Sunday morning, the member trumps the non member.
