QUESTION:
Just curious how do I determine my handicap in golf?
ANSWER:
Answer by GolfBlogger.Com
The handicap formula is actually extremely complicated. Its based on your score for the best ten of your last twenty rounds. Each score is adjusted for the slope and rating of the course that you posted the score for.
Start with your lowest ten scores of the last 20 rounds you played. For each, subtract from that the course rating. Multiply the result by 113 (the average slope of all rated courses). Divide that by the slope of the course you played. That gives you the “differential”
Average the differentials and multiply by .96. Viola! You have your handicap.
The best thing to do is to join one of the free handicapping services, enter your scores and let them do the math. You’ll get an official handicap that you can use for tournaments and such.
