As the days become warmer and lighter, many of us turn our thoughts towards golfing again. The longer we spend outdoors on the green, the more likely it is that we will notice little faults and flaws in our game. Often these flaws or quirks are what make us the golfer we are, but there are some areas that need to be ironed out. Sometimes, there may be a glaring fault in the way we play. But more often than not, we just feel demotivated or like our gaming could do with “sprucing” up. There is nothing drastically wrong with our swing, stance or technique, for example, but we’re just not at the top. Fortunately, there are a few easy ways we can shake off the rust we’ve accumulated over the colder months. If you’re looking to upgrade your golfing game this year, consider the tips below.
Emphasise Your Conditioning
We may begin playing golf at any age in life. Whether we’re young and flexible or more mature, investing in our conditioning can be the key to good performance. Incorporate a stretching routine into your daily activities, or even attend a class at the gym for strength straining. If you have a particular problem area, commonly the spine or knees, consider getting professional advice. A trip to the physiotherapist early on in a problem can prevent several trips later down the line. There may be a physical reason you are hesitant in the swing or can’t seem to generate power. Sports massages can be a great way to rejuvenate before getting back to regular play. Not only do they help eliminate toxins and improve circulation, they have also been shown to prevent injury. Staying supple and well-conditioned year round will mean a better game when you come back to playing regularly.
Take A Trip
We can quickly become accustomed to the same routes and greens time and again. As a result, we may find that we have become complacent or even lazy. Without regularly challenges, we may not improve at a good rate. We can also find that our enthusiasm wanes if we know a course intimately or even feel we’ve mastered it. Consider taking a golfing trip. There are many golfing resorts both at home and abroad, from rugged coastal sites to golf in the golden sun. It can be an exciting opportunity to travel, meet other enthusiasts, and really improve your game. You’ll return with greater experience and probably steelier nerves too! New terrain can bring on your technique in leaps and bounds.
Invest In Equipment
You may already be able to tell if a piece of your equipment badly needs replacement. But even if they are functioning normally, it can be a boost to invest in some extra pieces. Perhaps there is a specialised club you’ve had your eye on or a great bag. It may even be some new golfing shoes as comfort and mobility are essential for a good performance. Go through your collection and assess what could use an upgrade.
