If you’re thinking about taking up a new sport, you might want to consider golfing. Perhaps that’s how you came across this site in the first place. You were researching and seeing if it was the right sport for you. We think it could be because golf appeals to a whole range of people. It’s one of the only sports you can easily play at any age. As well as this, it can be quite a relaxing activity where you’ll be in a secluded area with nothing but the sound of a soft swing. As well as this, seeing the perfect shot can be a moment of absolute beauty. So, what do you need to get started? Not a lot all!
Check Out A Golfing Range
If you’re just getting started for your first time golfing, why not head to a golfing range. There, you’ll be able to practise your swing and focus on hitting the ball in a straight line. A golfing range takes out the activity of following your ball. Instead, you’ll get a number of balls to hit as far as you can. You can even borrow some clubs. Golf clubs are expensive and you should probably know this is the sport for you before you invest in a set. A golf range will give you a good idea of what this sport involves and whether it suits your interest.
Try Some Mini Golf
If you love mini golf, there’s a good chance you’ll love the full sport in all its glory. Many people think mini golf is nothing like golf. But actually, mini golf is great for practising your putting in a fun area. If you’re trying to get your children into golf, it’s also a great way you can catch their interest. The trial and error aspect of mini golf also encourages you to use tactics you’ll need when putting. This might be to think about the angle of the slope or the distance away from the hole. A golfing range and mini golf successfully combine the two main aspects of the sport.
Buy The Equipment
There’s a few different pieces of equipment that you’ll need to play golf. First, as we mentioned, you’ll need a set of clubs. If you’re left handed you can get a left handed set. You may even one to think about buying one golf club at first and working up to a set. You’ll also need some golf shoes. Golf shoes are worn to protect the course that you’ll be playing on. Do you have big feet? Not to worry you can buy wide golf shoes that are sure to provide you with the comfort you need for a long game.
For clothing, golfers often wear loose fitting clothes that allow them to get the perfect swing. The gloves you often see golfers wear are optional but can be helpful.
Learning The Swing
Lastly, you might want to invest in some golf lessons. For most people the perfect swing doesn’t come naturally. But after a few months of lessons, you might even get a Bogey. We promise you that’s a good thing.
