What if they held a golf tournament and nobody came?

Vicious storms delayed play at the third round of the AT&T National at Congressional Country Club in Bethesda, Md., and the damage was severe enough that the tournament organizers closed the event to patrons on Saturday. Officials said that safety concerns were severe enough that they feared injury to fans and volunteers from falling limbs and other problems. The final round was delayed until 1 p.m. ET, with players going off in threesomes on both tees.

Tournament officials said the storm uprooted up to 40 trees, including a 75-foot-tall beast that fell onto the 14th fairway. Branches ran along the 11th for 300 yards. Some of the cables for services such as ShotLink were damaged, which could cause communication problems down the line.
