Video: Justin Rose nearly holes lengthy putt during Dubai final round

Justin Rose failed to pick up his second win of 2012 on Sunday at the DP World Tour Championship, but it wasn’t for lack of trying. Sitting six shots back of Rory McIlroy and Luke Donald at the start of the final round, Rose put together an impressive display with eight birdies and an eagle en route to an eye-popping 10-under 62.

If it wasn’t for five straight birdies from McIlroy to close out his round, we’d likely be talking about Rose pulling off one of the best come-from-behind wins of the season. But let’s not discount Rose’s second-place finish; it was still one of 2012’s best, and a round that should give the Englishman plenty of momentum heading into next season.

We could show plenty of shots from Rose’s final round, but his best effort of the day was actually a putt that didn’t drop. After finding the back of the green on the par-5 18th, Rose knew he needed to get his lengthy eagle putt close for a two-putt birdie.

Not only did he get the tricky putt close — just check out how the ball stops at the top of the hill before trickling down to the cup — he nearly holed it. There are plenty of things that separate a good amateur from the pros, but if you’re looking for one of the biggest reasons, it’s the touch the best players in the world have on the greens. That putt is silly good, folks.
