Tiger Woods dropped the mic on Twitter on Wednesday morning.
Three days after a report suggested Woods had faced a setback in his recovery from a pair of fall back surgeries, Woods tweeted a video of himself hitting a 9-iron into a simulator. Accompanying the video was the phrase, “Progressing nicely.”
On Monday, golf reporter Robert Lusetich tweeted Woods’ condition had regressed, citing a source which said Woods was struggling to sit at all, was being transported via car with the passenger seat fully reclined and had trouble walking for extended periods of time. Woods’ agent, Mark Steinberg, vehemently denied the veracity of the report.
A conflicting report emerged from Tim Rosaforte, who spoke with Davis Love III and Notah Begay III, both of which who told Rosaforte that Woods was, in fact, making progress in his rehabilitation.
The Woods video makes it clear the 14-time major winner can at least swing a golf club, which is a big step forward compared to where Woods said he was in December at the Hero World Challenge. At that time, Woods seemed morose about his future prospects and said there was “no timeline” for his recovery.
This video doesn’t offer any clue as to when Woods will return to competitive golf, but it is an indication that he has made strides.
