The PGA Championship is next week which means a lot of the top names in the game are taking some time to hit up Oak Hill for a practice round.
Tiger Woods was one of them, playing a practice round at Oak Hill on Tuesday before the Bridgestone Invitational and spoke to reporters about the condition of the golf course on Wednesday.
His verdict? The greens aren’t in ideal shape and he is interested to see what the PGA of America will do next week to make the major championship ready.
“The greens are spotty. It’ll be interesting to see what they do for the tournament and how much they’re able to speed them up.”
Woods said that they were running a nine on the Stimpmeter, a similar speed to what you might play and definitely slower than what you’d expect at a major championship. No matter what the Oak Hill greenskeeper does in the next few days, all eyes will be on those greens next week to see what Tiger was talking about.
