Back at the 2005 Barclays, we were still two years away from the start of the FedEx Cup, but it didn’t take away from the fact that a lot of huge names took their shots at this tournament.
Padraig Harrington, a rookie on the PGA Tour at the time, had already won a playoff at the Honda Classic for his first ever PGA Tour win, and was standing on the 18th green at Westchester Country Club needing a birdie to tie Jim Furyk.
Harrington’s eagle putt was 65 feet from the hole, and a lag was in order, but Harrington hit his line and it just so happened to be the right speed.
The putt dropped, Harrington made eagle and won the event by one shot over Furyk.
