Being a former leader of the free world has its perks, like being able to play golf with some of the best athletes in the world. Plus, it gives you ample material for world-class trash talk.
Over the weekend, Jordan Spieth played golf with friends, including the Warriors’ Steph Curry and a recent retiree:
Yes, that’s President Barack Obama right there next to Spieth. While you’d assume that Spieth could dust the floor with the ex-pres, even given a few strokes a side, apparently that wasn’t the case. Spieth, visiting “The Late Late Show with James Corden,” revealed that Obama was “incredibly cool” … but not above some good on-course jabbing.
“What’s the one thing you would tell a president-elect, what’s the one thing you weren’t prepared for?”
Obama responded with a lengthy answer about responsibility and awareness, then turned just before his putt and said, “And you won’t believe what the aliens look like. They’re freaking crazy-looking.” Then Obama hit the putt, winked, and walked off.
“You can’t lose to him,” Spieth added, “or he’s going to tell everyone he beat Jordan Spieth.” Unfortunately for Spieth, Obama holed a ten-foot, double-breaking putt for a win.
Spieth also played a bit of target practice with Corden strapped to a spinning bull’s-eye. All in all, not quite the experience you’d expect to see at Augusta.
