Justin Timberlake’s “Gone” was about losing a girl. But it now could also be about losing millions of dollars on the sale of his Memphis-area golf course.
Timberlake sold Mirimichi Golf Course last week to Tennessee businessman Fred Edmaiston, ending a five-year run as owner of the property with his family. In that time, Timberlake completely redesigned the course, pouring some $ 16 million in to make it one of the nation’s most eco-friendly. Mirimichi drew praise for its design and value, landing on Golfweek’s list of best courses for public play in Tennessee in 2013 and ’14.
However, Timberlake sold Mirimichi at a fire sale price. According to the deed released this week, the fee was a paltry $ 500,000. As the Memphis Business Journal points out, there could be other considerations in the deal beyond cash, but that’s still an incredibly low price for a club whose membership, Edmaiston said, will be restructured.
