Jason Dufner wants to replace the trees at Toomer’s Corner with Oak Hill oaks

Jason Dufner walked onto Auburn’s golf team, and still lives near his alma mater. His battles with Alabama fans on Twitter are legend. So it stands to reason that he’d try to bring a little of the glory from his PGA Championship win home to Auburn.

His idea? Acorns to replace a beloved local landmark. As fans of college football know, the legendary trees at Auburn’s Toomer’s Corner were poisoned by an Alabama fan in 2011, and have since been removed. While he and his wife Amanda were walking the course in Rochester, Dufner gathered acorns to plant in his own yard, then perhaps transplant them to Toomer’s Corner.

“That would be nice, if they’re up to it. It’s an idea,” Dufner said. “I know we’ve got some time before we can actually plant something in that area, but I think that would be pretty cool. But that’s probably pretty selfish on my part, too. Maybe it’ll be an option.”
