There are plenty of ways to win matches at the Accenture Match Play event. Jason Dufner’s birdie on the 17th hole on Thursday at Dove Mountain might have been the best walk-off shot of the 2014 matches.
Leading Matteo Manassero 1-up with two holes to play, Dufner missed the green on the 17th and had a slippery little chip with Manassero on the green putting for birdie.
The current PGA Championship winner got it on the green, watched it released towards the hole and drop in for the unexpected birdie and the match win for the 36-year-old American.
In typical Dufner fashion, his response was a simple fist pump with hardly any smile, and after Manassero missed his putt the match went to Dufner.
