I hope you’re sitting down because I have some rather interesting news to tell you that you definitely haven’t heard yet; Rory McIlroy is going to Nike. Yep, that Nike. The Swoosh. It’s crazy!
The news that came out months ago still hasn’t been completely confirmed by the company and McIlroy, but he hasn’t been exactly hiding the change (here is a photo of Rory rocking the Swoosh during a leisure day with his girlfriend).
A golf blog by the name of GolfCentralDaily.com got pictures of Rory’s new bag with the Nike clubs in there, and they posted a few on the site. The clubs seem pretty much what you’d expect, sans the Scotty Cameron headcover that Rory seems like he won’t part ways with just yet (remember, Tiger Woods had a Scotty in his bag for years after signing with Nike and still occasionally goes back to it if things on the greens aren’t going according to plan).
Rory will be teeing it up next week at the Abu Dhabi event, and I’m sure by then we will officially know that Rory is Team Nike.
