There’s going to be a funky pair come February at Pebble Beach.
Two-time Masters champion Bubba Watson is returning to the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am in Feburary for the first time since 2007, and it’s for one reason and one reason only: to team up with Mark Wahlberg.
The pair are apparently friends, and, according to tournament director Steve John, Wahlberg convinced Watson to play in the event with him.
“Mark and Bubba are buddies,” John told the San Francisco Chronicle. “Mark drew Bubba back. That’s pretty cool.”
Watson joins the likes of Jordan Spieth, Jason Day and Dustin Johnson as top-10 players to tee it up in the old Crosby Clambake.
Watson is definitely doing this as a favor to the former head of the Funky Bunch. He missed the cut in this event in 2006 and finished T-44 in 2007.
The tournament will be played Feb. 11-14.
