Chris Kirk won the McGladrey Classic but not without a bit of late round drama

In golf, the term “journeyman” gets tossed around a lot, mostly because outside of the top 40 or so in the world, there are a bunch of names you’ve heard of but probably don’t follow.

Golf is one of the toughest sports to make it professionally, so when you see the names Briny Baird or Tim Clark or even Chris Kirk you know exactly who it is but you’re not exactly sure the last time they were in this position.

For Kirk, Sunday meant a second PGA Tour win, one he collected thanks to a bogey on the final hole by Baird, who has now played in 365 career PGA Tour events without a win.

Baird came to the final hole tied for the lead with Kirk, but his second shot from a weird stance in the bunker (it reminded us a little of Steve Stricker at the John Deere in 2011 on the 72nd hole prior to him pulling the trigger) ended up in the hazard and the tournament was handed to Kirk, who posted a final round 66 to beat Baird and Clark by a shot.
